When I first got my Ender 3, I created and sliced projects on a Macbook Pro and then shuttled the files onto the Ender 3 using a microSD card. It didn’t suck.
Upgrading the Ender 3’s firmware didn’t go well and the microSD method ceased to work. I overcame this for awhile by connecting the Macbook directly to the Ender via USB. This was a bit of a step up from “didn’t suck.”
As my prints became longer and more complicated, the Ender would frequently lock up mid-print. So I decided to up my game and made the switch to Klipper.
I pulled an old laptop out of retirement, installed Ubuntu 24.04, and let KIAUH work its magic. In a single day I was printing faster and cleaner than ever before. I could have done the whole thing in much less than a day if I had paid more care and attention, but I was busy multitasking and I had to repeat steps that could have been done right the first time with just a little extra effort.
I hooked up an unused 32” TV/monitor and now I can monitor my print status from anywhere in my shop!
