Who We Are:

Three generations of artisans.

Three styles. One philosophy.

A century ago, the carpenter’s tools of the trade included handsaws, hammers, and brace drills. When electricity entered the workshop, some craftsmen resisted it. Today, power tools are ubiquitous – but the cycle repeats. As digital technology offers even more possibilities, some are loathe to adopt.

We are a family of makers: furniture, carvings, machines, toys, paintings – anything is fair game. We embrace modern tech in all its forms and uses. Our studio is a menagerie of antique and futuristic tools and materials. We’re not adopting tech for tech’s sake – a beautiful carving of an eagle would not be much improved with LEDs! Our perspective is different: we are open to any appropriate technique or medium from any century to create and delight.

The Old Man

The old man

A master carpenter all his life, The Old Man has worked on projects ranging from small carvings to architecturally-designed mansions. The Old Man was one of the first to use a computer on the job site to calculate compound miter angles. His folio includes furniture, woodcarvings, watercolors, relief carvings, photography, and many other artistic endeavors.

Jonathan

After years in the high tech industry, Jonathan decided to spend the next phase of his life building projects that incorporate both modern technology and traditional elements. Many of Jonathan’s projects exhibit cleverness or ingenuity; others stick to the basics.  Jonathan’s collected works include woodcarvings, furniture, shop tools, pencil drawings, calligraphy, and oil and acrylic painting. When not in the studio, Jonathan’s hobbies include sailing, winemaking, and conquering escape rooms.

Gin

A third-generation woodworker and artist, Gin’s interests include oil and acrylic painting as well as furniture making. She is also quite adept at pointing out to Jonathan when there is an easier way to get the job done. Outside of the studio, Gin is a violinist and a prolific D&D dungeon master.
